The week runs on the kiln’s clock.
Kilnward keeps a small studio’s class and open-studio bookings, kiln loads, firing schedules and member shelves on one working sheet, set around when the kiln is hot.

The load starts filling on Monday.
Members book glaze nights and open studio and say how many pieces they are glazing. Each booking takes space in a named firing, and when K2 goes on the sheet the kiln room shuts for it, so Thursday’s class moves before anyone sets off.

Thirty-eight pieces, four levels, one cone pack.
The load plan comes straight from the bookings. Whoever loads sees each member’s work, the tallest piece on each level and the post height it needs, then ticks it off shelf by shelf.

Twelve hours, written down as they happen.
The controller runs the program. Kilnward keeps the record: each segment as it starts, the peak, the hold and the moment the elements switch off. It is the curve at the top of the sheet, as a log.

Saved once, reused for every glaze firing in K2. Temperatures approximate.
Nobody lifts the lid early.
After the elements go off, Kilnward estimates when the lid can be cracked and when the kiln is safe to open, and keeps the kiln room shut on the booking sheet until the unload. The rest of the studio carries on around it.
Dashed: forecast from the last eight K2 glaze firings. Temperatures approximate. The forecast is replaced by the logged trace as the kiln cools.
Out of the kiln, onto eleven shelves.
The unload follows the load plan in reverse. Each member’s work goes to a collection shelf, and the eleven people with pieces in K2 get one message each with their shelf. Nobody else is pinged.
